About

Welcome to ‘Frodsham Sings’

‘I absolutely love being part of Frodsham Sings choir, it’s like a second family, such a friendly, fun group. I joined when I was made redundant, it gave me such a lift at a low time in my life’

‘The best year of my life for singing, social activity, friendship and everyone just gets on so well together. wish I had joined years before instead of making excuses about work’

‘Singing is good for the soul. I have made so many wonderful friends and had so many amazing opportunities since joining Frodsham Sings. You can have a horrible week, but singing with people you love on a Saturday morning makes life so much happier!’

The choir was established in 2013 by Frodsham Transition Initiative.

The last couple of years have been a period of tremendous growth for the choir and the choir has been transformed from a group of people who sing to being a real community choir with a sustainable number of members who can really add to the community spirit of Frodsham and the surrounding area.

‘Frodsham sings is where I feel, Happy, safe and valued’

In January 2015, Ian Oulton was recruited at Musical Director of the choir. Currently there are approaching 75 paid-up members of the choir. There is also an active social calendar giving us all a chance to get to know each other better.

‘Singing unifies people of all backgrounds and ages. I truly feel like I belong and love the friendships formed. The power of music to lift the spirits is apparent every time we’re together 🎶🎶x’

Performances have included Frodsham Summer Festival, Morrisons (in aid of Halton Haven), Frodsham Christmas Festival, Frodsham Stroke Club, The Windings Helsby (Christmas lunch) and the Festival of Memories event  at Frodsham Methodist Church.

In January 2016 it took part in Frodsham’s first ‘Singathon’ with other choirs.

The strategy for the coming year is to focus on developing the choir’s repertoire and improving the confidence for members to perform harmonies. the Choir held a highly successful  singing workshop in the Spring of 2017.

‘As a founder member I can’t believe how it has grown into the choir it is now. A large, happy, friendly and fun group who welcome everyone and make such wonderful music.’

‘Singing with other people puts smiles on faces, songs in hearts and brings people together like nothing else I have ever known. It opens doors both socially and creatively, and is good for the mind, body and spirit. Recommend it for anyone.’

On 5 June 2017, in collaboration with Victoria Music Ltd, we presented ‘Curtain Up, Light The Lights’ a Musical Theatre showcase, probably our biggest challenge yet! In addition to acting as a backing choir for the night many members of FS got into the thespian spirit and performed solos and group numbers. Our largest audience to date, with a sell out crowd!

On 27 June 2017 the Choir took part for the second year running in ‘Summer Song’ at The Brindley Theatre, a showcase for community choirs and groups from Halton and the surrounding areas. The Choir received rave reviews – Here’s one message of feedback – ‘I have to say that after watching the Brindley concert with the choirs Frodsham Sings rules. O.K. !!!! The diction was perfect, the timing was too and the enthusiasm was awesome. Keep singing!.’

In July 2017 we performed for the second year running at the annual Frodsham Downhill Run at Castle Park Frodsham with gorgeous summer weather to help us!
